IIHF World Championship 2019 : The 2019 IIHF World Championship preliminary round for the Canadians and the Americans than a matchup with some stakes. Unfortunately, this matchup was all Canada as they dominated from the get-go and defeated the Americans 3-0.

Canada finishes atop Group A and will face Switzerland in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Kosice, Slovakia. The United States finished fourth and will now have to travel to Bratislava, Slovakia to compete against the undefeated - and absolutely dominating - Russians.

Canada wrapped up the group stage of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship with a 3-0 victory over the United States on Tuesday in Kosice, Slovakia.

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored the opening goal for Canada, while Kyle Turris and Jared McCann added to the team's tally.

The three points from the result propel Canada to the top of Group A, whereas the United States remains in fourth.

The United States hardly had time to get settled before it was staring at a one-goal deficit. Schneider was caught watching Mark Stone for too long as the Canadian forward was skating behind the net. Stone dumped the puck off to Dubois, who had an easy finish to put Canada ahead 1:49 into the game.

Canada defeated the United States 3-0 on Tuesday, the final day of the preliminary round at the 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championship.

With the victory, Canada is the winner of Group A, while the U.S. finishes fourth. The top four teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals.

Matt Murray stopped all 28 shots he faced to earn the shutout, submitting his bid to be Canada's starting netminder in the elimination round. It won't be an easy decision for head coach Alain Vigneault, as fellow goalie Carter Hart posted a 0.70 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage in three games.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, Kyle Turris, and Jared McCann found twine for Canada, while Mark Stone, Anthony Mantha, and Dante Fabbro reached the scoresheet with assists.

Kyle Turris had a goal and an assist as Canada finished off preliminary play at the world hockey championship with a 3-0 win over the United States on Tuesday.

Canada finished at the top of the Group A standings with 18 points from six regulation wins and one regulation loss. The Canadians have won six straight since opening with a 3-1 loss to Finland.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Jared McCann also scored for Canada, while Matt Murray made 28 saves and picked up the shutout in goal.

The net of the Russian national team’s goal in the match of the 2019 IIHF World Championship against Sweden on May 21 will be guarded by Andrei Vasilevsky, Head Coach Ilya Vorobyov said on Tuesday.

"Vasilevsky will be playing against Sweden," Vorobyov said addressing a news conference in Bratislava.
